About Disability Essex
Disability Essex (the Essex Disabled People's Association Ltd) is a County charity which, since 1949, has provided help, advice and support to disabled people, their carers and dependants.
Our disability information advice line, manned by disabled volunteers, is open Monday to Friday each week - telephone 0844 412 1770. General accessibility information for the County of Essex is also available on our website.
A network of member clubs forms a disability support structure across the County while also providing social and recreational facilities for disabled people.
Our monthly information newsletter is available online and via our e-mailing list.
We provide a range of Equality and Diversity courses. Our bespoke Access Auditor training not only provides disabled people with new skills and qualifications; it also helps us to promote - to commercial organisations - the benefits of ensuring that their goods and services are accessible to the widest range of consumer.
Disability Essex is an 'umbrella' organisation for processing applications for CRB clearance. Any organisation can take advantage of this service.
